Youths on Wednesday protested two days consecutive attacks on Benue communities by Fulani herdsmen. The attacks resulted in the death of over 50 persons and wide-scale destruction of properties. The situation provoked the youths to set up roadblocks on major routes leading in and out of Makurdi, the Benue State capital. They also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to act immediately or resign his position. The youths made the call while protesting the killing of their kinsmen in two local government areas of the state on Wednesday.
The youths, who were visibly angry, refused to be addressed by the governor. They insisted that President Buhari come to Benue and explain to them why herdsmen were killing their people and nothing was being done by his government.
